Nvidia Pledges $2B for Europe, $250M Compute for UK Labs
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is touring Europe, and he is spending money as he goes. In Paris he said Nvidia will make $2 billion in new investments across Europe, with more detail due the following week, according to Bloomberg. In the UK, the company is giving academic labs that study AI safety a large block of computing power.
The two announcements serve different purposes. One is about commercial reach on the continent. The other is about building credibility with a research community that cares a great deal about how AI systems behave. Together they show how Nvidia wants to be seen in Europe: as an investor, a supplier and a partner to researchers.
