TikTok Shopping Assistant Adds One-Click Checkout to Feed
TikTok is adding two commerce features to its app: a conversational AI shopping assistant and a checkout option that lets people buy directly from brands without leaving their feed. The company announced both on Monday. Together they move shopping out of a dedicated corner of the app and into the main viewing experience.
What the assistant does
TikTok calls the new Shopping Assistant a conversational AI agent built to help users find and buy products. According to the company, it keeps track of context and remembers a user's preferences and needs as a conversation goes on, so shoppers don't have to repeat themselves.
